Learn how to create your own music by using Ableton (software), recording with different methods of sound creation and techniques. Starting from scratch to the final arrangement discussing ideas together. During the workshop we will see how to reuse and give birth to the traditional/folkloric rhythms of WANA region, and merge with contemporary or electronic music regardless of the genre in which you want. In addition to one 3-hour practical workshop, Cheb Runner will be supporting the selected artists during two one-on-one studio sessions. Our (A)WAKE studio offers us a responsible, respectful, and communal environment to listen together, and learn and practice with each other.
Nurtured by both worlds, Cheb Runner (Reda Senhaji) represents a new sound of in-betweenness. Using first hand sounds and recordings of his own sample bank based on traditional instruments, he mixes playfully analog with digital effects supported with a unique collection of synthesizes. Cheb Runner started his career on the music scene flirting with different names, collectives and genres the last 10 years. Both as producer, composer and DJ, he is merging traditional and contemporary electronic sounds together moving from Moroccan chaabi, spiritual sounds to eclectic disco, deep techno and gabber.
